The Bulldogs came out of the gate on Saturday night like a team who had something to prove and if so, they sure proved themselves taking the game by a score of 5-3 against the Coquitlam Express.
The first period was quiet for the most part with the Bulldogs tallying the long goal at 4:25 by Connor Welsh, assited by Gregg Lee and Brandon Bergado.
The Express managed to tie things up in the second at 15:07 by Sam Kozlowski, but within 13 second Brandon Bergado assisted by Gregg Lee and Darren Rizzolo to take the 2-1 lead into the dressing room.
During the third it was a flurry of goals, first at 2:32 by the Express to tie the game, followed by two unanswered goals by the Bulldogs first by Isaac Tonkin-Palmer followed by Darren Rizzolo. The Express manged to get one more past Hawthorne but the game was ended with an empty netter by Bulldogs Captain Ryan Steele to end the game 5-3 Bulldogs.
Next week the Bulldogs are on the road for the 2017 Showcase in Chilliwack.
