Friday (October 6th) was the third match-up between the Alberni Valley Bulldogs and the Nanaimo Clippers and like the two other games this one remained as intense as the others.
First period is the only period during regular time which saw goals, first by Nanaimo at 6:13 by Jake Harris which was followed shortly after by Alberni’s Brandon Bergado assited by Darren Rizzolo and Ryan Steele on the powerplay.
From that point in the game it was a goaltenders match-up both stopping every shot they faced to force the game to overtime.
The first overtime solved nothing but early into the second overtime Nanaimo would get a breakaway and score, David Melaragni to take the game 2-1.
John Hawthorne stopped 38 of 40 shots he faced and earned himself the second star of the game.
The Bulldogs are back in action at home tomorrow (Saturday, Oct 7th) against the Trail Smoke Eaters.
