All tickets are $5 on Saturday, Dec 14th when the Bulldogs host the Grizzlies at 7pm on Weyerhaeuser Arena.
Also, we have a special food drive that we would like the entire community to rally behind, Bulldogs' Style. We are calling it POUND FOR POUND.
We want to raise our players' combined weight in food donations. All 22 players weigh a combined 4,038 lbs.
We all know that hunger is an issue that impacts Canadians year-round. That’s why we’re especially excited to tell you about our latest partnership, as it’s going to be supporting local food banks all hockey season-long. Even more exciting is how we’re getting to work with a whole new list of communities. Have we built enough suspense yet? Let’s get to it and tell you all about it!
The British Columbia Hockey League and Five Hole for Food are teaming up to score big for food banks around the province. The BCHL Five Hole for Food Challenge encourages fans around the league to best their rival communities by donating the most food on their event nights, which will be held throughout the season.
The Nanaimo Clippers we first up. But we want to show the rest of the league just what the Alberni Valley can do. The food drive will help support local food banks in the community. “Food banks and the families that rely on them are in need of donations at all times, not just the holidays,” said BCHL communications director Brent Mutis. “By capitalizing on the natural rivalries that exist between our teams, we hope to generate increasing donations as we proceed to make a real difference in each community.”
Five Hole for Food began its ongoing campaign in 2010 and has gone across Canada every summer since, holding street hockey tournaments and raising food donations. “Five Hole for Food aims to bring a love for hockey together with action in the community at a grassroots level,” said CEO and founder Richard Loat. “Partnering with the BCHL on a league-wide campaign stays true to our goal of taking a national passion and making sure the impact is made on the local communities of those supporting the food banks through hockey."
So on Saturday, December 14, lets show the league and BC what our community can do to help the less fortunate during a special time of the year! Food donations will be collected at the front door. If you cannot stay for the game, drop your food donations off at the front office 3 hours before puck drop!
