US defenceman Camron Cervone commits to Bulldogs for 2018/19 season

STAND-OUT T1EHL BLUELINER TO JOIN ALBERNI VALLEY FROM BELLE TIRE

Port Alberni, BC – The Alberni Valley Bulldogs are pleased to announce that 1999-born defenceman Camron Cervone has committed to join the team for the 2018/19 British Columbia Hockey League season.

Cervone hails from Rochester Hills, Michigan and is currently playing with the Belle Tire 18U AAA program in the Tier 1 Elite Hockey League, where he has scored six goals and added eight assists in 28 regular season games. He has helped Belle Tire post a 18-6-4 record good for third in the league’s 24-team Major Midget division.

“Cam is an excellent all-around blueliner who possesses good size and strong skating and puck-moving skills,” says Bulldogs head coach Matt Hughes. “We heard great reports about Cam from Scott Gosselin, who scouts for us in Michigan, and I had a chance to meet him and see him play live in Phoenix before Christmas. He was just as good as advertised and we’re very excited that he’s decided to pursue his Junior A hockey career in the Alberni Valley.”

Before joining Belle Tire, Cervone spent the previous two seasons with the Compuware 18U and Honeybaked 16U programs respectively. He totaled for 23 points in 42 HPHL games and was selected 25th overall in the North American Hockey League draft by the Minnesota Magicians in June 2017.

“I’m very excited to be a part of the Alberni Valley Bulldogs next season,” says Cervone, who describes himself as a two-way defenceman who can make a great first pass out of the zone, be strong defensively, and make quick transitions. “I’ve heard nothing but great things about the organization and the amazing support the community has for the team.”

“I’ve always had an interest in playing in the BCHL and Coach Matt is the reason I chose the Bulldogs. I’ve had many great conversations and met him a couple of months ago. I believe he’s a player’s coach and I will be fully committed to his system. I want to step in next year and help the the Bulldogs have a winning season.”

Cervone will complete the 2017/18 season with Belle Tire and join the Bulldogs for training camp in August.
