Bulldogs Blank Caps 4-0

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs got goals from three different players and defeated the Cowichan Valley Capitals by score of 4-0 on Saturday night at the Multiplex.

The Bulldogs opened the scoring for the 7th consecutive game as a Braden Blace point shot beat Caps netminder Lucas Pfeil. For Blace, the goal was his first in the BCHL.

In the 2nd period the Bulldogs would extend their lead as rookie Jaydon Merritt would also score his first BCHL goal to make it 2-0, before Brandon Buhr added his 5th of the season to push the lead to 3-0.

Chase Klassen would put the game on ice in the 3rd when he found the empty net for his 2nd of the season.

Luke Pearson made 40 saves to earn his second consecutive shutout over the Caps.

The final shots favoured the Caps 40-32.

The Bulldogs were 0 for 3 with the man-advantage, while the Capitals were 0 for 1.

With the win the Bulldogs improved to 3-2-1-1 while the Caps dropped to 2-6-1-0 on the season.

The Bulldogs will have a quick turnaround as they face the Nanaimo Clippers for the 1st time this season tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 pm.
