Bulldogs Face Kings at Dawg Pound

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs (27-19-3-1) host the Powell River Kings (17-23-5-3) at the Alberni Valley Multiplex tonight at 7:00 pm.

The Bulldogs are coming off a 3-1 loss in Victoria on Friday night, while the Kings stunned the conference leading Clippers with a 6-4 win at the Frank Crane Arena.

As good as the Bulldogs have been since Christmas, they now find themselves losers of 2 straight and are just 3-3 in their past 6 games. Powell River meanwhile has just 2 regulation losses in their past 10 games.

With the wins this week, the Grizzlies moved into a tie with the Bulldogs for 3rd place in the Coastal Conference with 58 points.  The Grizzlies also hold 2 games in hand over the Bulldogs. Alberni Valley has just 4 games remaining on their schedule.  Chilliwack had the night off, while the Coquitlam Express were derailed in Trail.  It would appear that playoff seeding will come right down to the wire for the Coastal Conference.

Nicholas Beneteau saw his league-leading 19 game point-streak snapped on Friday night at the Q Centre.  Beneteau was held off the score sheet for the 1st time since New Years Eve.

This is the 7th and final meeting of the season between these two club.  The Bulldogs hold the edge with a 4-2-0-0 record head-to-head with the Kings and won the last meeting here at the Dawg Pound 5-1 on February 18th.  Ethan Bono has 4 goals and 5 assists to lead all scorers in the season series.

After tonight, the Bulldogs will hit the road for a pair of crucial games in Surrey and Chilliwack before returning home on March 24th to take on the Grizzlies to close out the 23-24 regular season.
