The Alberni Valley Bulldogs overcame an early 3-1 deficit, and pulled away in the 3rd as they rallied past the Cowichan Capitals 7-3 on Wednesday night at the Dawg Pound.
Trailing 3-2 after 20, and tied 3-3 through 40, the Bulldogs scored 4 goals in the 3rd against the Caps.
Brandon Buhr paced the attack with 4 goals on the night, he now has 14 on the season.
Ryan Nause, Ethan Hersant, and Adam Jeffery also scored for the Bulldogs in the win.
Luke Pearson made 22 saves in goal for the Bulldogs, while Lucas Pfeil made 30 saves.
The Caps were red-hot heading into this one, including two straight wins over Alberni Valley.
The win was a big one for the Bulldogs who improved to 10-3-3-1 and moved into a 1st place tie with Grizzlies atop the Island pod standings. The Grizzlies lost 9-6 earlier in the afternoon to the Clippers. The Bulldogs hold a game in hand over the Grizzlies, and the two clubs still have a pair of head-to-head match up’s before the season comes to a close.
