The Alberni Valley Bulldogs have acquired 2006 born goaltender Charlie Durkin from the Langley Rivermen, in exchange for Future Considerations.
The 19 year old Durkin is from Glencoe, Illinois and is 6’0 and 183 pounds.
Durkin excelled last season with the Idaho Falls Spud Kings in the National Collegiate Development Conference, compiling a 28-6 and 4 record in 38 regular season games, posting a goals against average of 1.96 and a save percentage of .932, with five shut outs. He improved on both of those numbers in the post season, going 9-2 and 1, with a goals against average of 1.21 and a save percentage of .958 while posting three shut outs, leading the Spud Kings to the Dineen Cup title. He earned most valuable player and top goaltender awards in the process.
Bulldogs Head Coach and General Manager Joe Martin commented: “We’ve had good competition in camp so far. The opportunity to add Charlie was presented and we know by adding him we have solidified the goaltending position.”
