Bulldogs Announce the Passing of Evan Hammond

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs are deeply saddened to share the passing of longtime Bulldogs broadcaster and cherished member of our organization, Evan Hammond.

For many years, Evan was the voice of Bulldogs hockey and an integral part of our team. Through countless broadcasts, unforgettable moments, and seasons of triumph and challenge, Evan brought the Bulldogs to life for our fans and families around the world.

His passion, professionalism, and unmistakable presence helped shape the identity of our organization and connected generations of supporters to our game and to our community.

Evan’s impact extended far beyond the broadcast booth. He was a trusted colleague, a mentor, and a friend—someone who genuinely cared about the players, the staff, and the Alberni Valley. His dedication to the Bulldogs and his love for the game leaves a  lasting mark that will never be forgotten and is second only to the love he had for his children and family.

Our hearts are with Evan’s family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. We are grateful for everything Evan gave to this organization and to the community he served so faithfully.

Evan’s passion and love for Bulldogs hockey will live on in every story shared, every memory made, and in the heart of our community forever.

The Bulldogs organization stands together in mourning and remembrance, united in gratitude for Evan’s life and the legacy he leaves behind.

Evan suffered a medical emergency on December 31st and was rushed to Victoria General.  He passed away on January 2nd, with family at his side. Evan was 45 years old.
