Bulldogs bite Vees for fourth straight win

PORT ALBERNI B.C.-  A massive win for the Alberni Valley Bulldogs on Saturday night at the Dawg Pound. The Bulldogs knocked off the top ranked team in the CJHL, the Penticton Vees in front of 1339 fans at the Weyerhaeuser Arena.

It’s the fourth straight win for the Bulldogs and the first loss of the season for the Vees who came into last night’s game a perfect 11-0.

Forward Dawson Tritt would get the scoring started for the Bulldogs with a short-handed marker at 8:38 of the first period. It would be the first of three goals on the night for the Spokane, Washington product. Still in the first period at the 12:56 mark,  Tritt  would find the back of the net again to put the Bulldogs up 2-0. That goal chased Vees Goaltender Derek Krall from the game after giving up two goals on eight shots from the Bulldogs.

In the second period on the power-play,  Tyler Kostelecky would bury his third of the season to put the Bulldogs up 3-0. Dawson Tritt would complete the hat-trick in the third period with another short-handed goal for the Bulldogs to make it 4-0. It’s the second career hat-trick in the BCHL for Tritt who now has 5 goals on the season.

Jackson Doucet picked up a pair of assists in the win,  Luke Pearson stopped all 32 shots he faced for his first shutout in the BCHL.

With the win the Bulldogs improved to 7-8 overall and are still undefeated at the Dawg Pound this season.

The Bulldogs are now tied with Powell River for third spot in the Island Division Standings with 14 points.

The Bulldogs are back in action on Friday, October 18th when they host the Wenatchee Wild at the Dawg Pound. Game time is 7 PM.
