Bulldogs Close Trip with Loss in Trail

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs could not grab another win on their final game on the three-game stint in the interior as the Bulldogs fell to the Trail Smoke Eaters by a score of 4-2 on Saturday night.

The opening frame was not the way the Bulldogs drew it up before this contest started as they allowed two goals on the powerplay that gave the Smoke Eaters a 2-0 lead just over the over halfway mark and would hold that lead heading into the second period.

In the second, the lone goal would be scored by Bulldogs forward Josh Van Unen (7) which also came on the powerplay within the final three minutes of the period making it a 2-1 game heading into the third period.

In the third period. the two teams would trade goals as the Smoke Eaters would add another goal on the powerplay to make it a 3-1 game.

Booker Daniel would score his first goal of the season for the Bulldogs to cut the lead in half, but the Smoke Eaters would put the final nail in the coffin with an empty-net goal for a final score of 4-2.

The Bulldogs will now return to Vancouver Island and will now be getting ready to face the Nanaimo Clippers in Nanaimo on Wednesday, November 17th.
