The Alberni Valley Bulldogs won their 5th in a row at home on Wednesday night as they defeated the Powell River Kings 4-1 in front of 817 fans at the Multiplex.
Josh Van Unen (15th), Kai Greaves (2), Arlo Merritt (15) and Ethan Bono (13th) all scored in the win.
Hobie Hedquist was sharp in goal for the Bulldogs as he stopped 27 shots on the 28 Powell River attempts. The win was Hedquist’s 18th of the season.
The power play went 2-6 on the night while the penalty kill was 5 for 6.
With the victory, the Bulldogs improved their overall record to 25-12-3-1 and moved into sole possession of 2nd place in the Coastal Conference. The Bulldogs improved their home record to 14-3-2-0.
The Bulldogs now embark on a tough 3-game stretch beginning on Friday night in Victoria against the red-hot Grizzlies. The Bulldogs will then return home to face Chilliwack on Saturday, and The Nanaimo Clippers on a special 2:00 pm game on Family Day Monday.
