Bulldogs down the Smoke Eaters in Campbell River

CAMPBELL RIVER, B.C – The Alberni Valley Bulldogs scored five unanswered goals on Sunday afternoon en route to a 5-2 win over the Trail Smoke Eaters.

The Smoke Eaters went up 2-0 in the first period and out shot the Bulldogs 14-10.

However that would be all the scoring for the Smoke Eaters in the game.

Moe Acee got the Bulldogs on the board with his second of the season in the middle frame.

Down 2-1 in the third period, Captain Mitch Deelstra took over, scoring two goals in just 17 seconds to give the Bulldogs a 3-2 lead.

Stephen Castagna and Isaac Pascoal would add two more goals for the Bulldogs in the 5-2 win.

Its the second game in a row the Bulldogs have battled back in the third period to pick up points.

Jackson Glassford made 30 saves for the win in front of a sold out crowd at the Rod Brind’Amour Arena.

Mitch Deelstra was named the the first star of the game after picking up 3 points. He now has 7 points over his last two games

With the win the Bulldogs are now 12-9-0-2 on the season. The Bulldogs will be back on the ice on Tuesday in Parksville when they host Prince George. Game time is 7 PM at Oceanside Place.
