Bulldogs Drop Pair on Weekend

Friday night saw the Langley Chiefs travel to Weyerhaeuser Arena to take on the Bulldogs. 

The Bulldogs kicked off the scoring in the first period, when Kevin Ross struck on the power play. Branden Gracel and Chris Moulson drew the assists on the lone goal of the period.  In the second, the Chiefs scored 3 unanswered goals to take a 3-1 lead into the third period. Milos Gordic, Brad Goss and Colton Beck were the Langley goal scorers.  In the final frame, the Chiefs iced the game when Trevor Elias scored into the empty net on the power play.

Wyatt Waselenchuk picked up the win in goal for the Chiefs, kicking aside 23 shots. Matthew Wong and Colin Rundell combined to make 21 saves in the loss.

On Saturday, the Bulldogs played host to their Island Division rival, Victoria Grizzlies.

The Bulldogs hit the board first, when Brian Kang tallied on a goal set up by Evan Witt. Myles MacRae evened the score for the Grizzlies going into the first intermission. In the second period, the Grizzlies power play heated up as they scored 3 goals with the man advantage. Tyler Matheson rounded out the second period scoring for the Grizzlies. Evan Witt scored for the Bulldogs to narrow the gap to 5-2 heading into the third period. In the third Eliot Raibl scored the only goal of the frame as the Grizzlies held on to take the 5-3 win.

Anthony Grieco turned aside 33 shots in the Grizzlies net to pick up the win. Matthew Wong stopped 26 shots sent his way in the loss for the Bulldogs.

Notes: Evan Witt was named the 2nd Star in Saturdays game, picking up 1 goal and 2 assists. Saturdays affair was heated, with Taylor Orser and Josh Pineiro both picking up fighting majors. Next action for the Bulldogs is Wednesday October 10th when they travel to Cowichan to take on the Capitals.
