Bulldogs drop road trip opener in Wenatchee

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs’ offence couldn’t get on track in Wenatchee on Friday night, dropping a 3-0 decision to the Wild at the Town Toyota Center to open a three-game weekend road trip.

The host team opened the scoring midway through the first period when Christophe Filion tipped home a cross ice pass, and the Bulldogs failed to convert on a handful of point blank chances.

Wenatchee doubled the lead early in the second when Matt Dorsey scored on a nice solo effort, and the Wild put the game away with 4:59 remaining in regulation converted on a feed from behind the net.

The Bulldogs pushed for a goal and had chances on a late power-play but couldn’t solve Wenatchee netminder Austin Park.

John Hawthorne made 30 saves on the night, including a number of key stops with the team down 2-0 that kept the game within reach.

Alberni Valley will now travel to the Okanagan to face the West Kelowna Warriors on Saturday night. Faceoff from Royal Lepage Place is set for 7:00 PM.
