Bulldogs drop third straight to Centennials

The Bulldogs battled, but couldn’t overcome lopsided officiating while suffering a 6-5 defeat to the Centennials in Merritt Friday night.

The Bulldogs were questionably penalized before the game even began, and it would be a harbinger of things to come on a night where they were sent to the box for close to half the game. The Centennials had 14 chances on the power play, while the Bulldogs had just 5.

The Bulldogs scored twice while shorthanded – the fourth straight game they had a shorthanded goal – and also scored once on the power play and twice while at even strength. Emanuelson Charbonneau scored twice, while Cam VanSickle, Raoul Boilard and Matt Kursonis added singles.

Shots favoured the Centennials 32-28, with Hobie Hedquist and Johnny Hicks being the goalies of record. The Bulldogs went 1 for 5 on the power play while the Centennials went 3 for 14.

The Bulldogs next see action Friday when they host the Coquitlam Express.
