Bulldogs End Road Trip on High Note

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs knocked off the Nanaimo Clippers 3-1 on Friday night at the Frank Crane Arena.  The game put the finishing touches on a 6 game road trip that saw the Bulldogs go 4-1-1-0.

Nicholas Beneteau continued his hot streak with 2 goals and an assist to earn himself 2nd star honours.  The goals were Beneteau’s 12th and 13th of the season.  Dakota MacIntosh added the other goal, it was his 17th of the year and it extended his goal scoring streak to 8 straight games.  The 8 games passed Penticton’s Bradley Nadeau for the longest such streak in the BCHL this season.  Beneteau’s point streak was extended to 12 games, the longest current streak in the league.

Hobie Hedquist was sharp in goal for the Bulldogs as he earned his 18th win of the year, making 30 saves on the night.  Hedquist was the games 1st star.

The penalty kill was a perfect 2 for 2, while the game came and went without a power play opportunity on the night.

With the win, the Bulldogs record improved to 22-16-3-1, good for 48 points.  Nanaimo fell to 30-9-1-0 on the season with the loss.

These same two clubs will face each other on Monday afternoon at the Dawg Pound.
