The Alberni Valley Bulldogs (2-1-1) are in Chilliwack this weekend for the BCHL Showcase, which was first introduced in 2012 and is typically held in Chilliwack but was split with Penticton in the 2020-21 season. For the Bulldogs’ first of two-weekend games, they will play the West Kelowna Warriors (4-1-0).
After coming off a 6-2 win over the Cowichan Capitals on October 17th, the Bulldogs will look to continue that offensive mindset against the Warriors. Who has been a well-defensive team to start the season. Allowing only 12 goals in their first 5 games.
However, the current weakness of the Warriors is their powerplay. Which is currently clicking at 9.5%. A shape contrast when compared to the Bulldogs who are running at 23.8% to begin the season.
The Warriors are also coming off a 4-1 victory against the Victoria Grizzlies from Friday night. Which, has been a team the Bulldogs have struggled against this season. Losing both games against the Grizzlies. 6-2 and 3-2 in overtime respectfully.
It’s also worth noting that in the last six games these two teams have faced each other, the Warriors are 6-0-0. You can expect the Bulldogs to want to come out with more bite to try and get a victory over the Warriors.
And keep your eyes on Brandon Buhr, who was also a member of the Warriors back in the 2019-20 season where he registered one assist in the three regular-season games for the Warriors. As well as one assist in three playoff games.
Puck drop will begin at 4:00 PM and you can catch the game live on BCHLTV. A link for the broadcast will be down below.
