The Alberni Valley Bulldogs were unable to hold off the Cowichan Valley Capitals on Friday night, falling 4–2 in BCHL action on January 23, 2026.
Cowichan Valley opened the scoring midway through the first period at 11:02, before the Bulldogs responded just over two minutes later. Hugo Daniel tied the game at 13:22, finishing a play set up by Teague McAllister.
The Capitals regained the lead late in the opening frame, scoring at 18:15 to take a 2–1 advantage into the first intermission.
Alberni Valley pulled even in the second period on the power play. At 7:36, Kye Benoche converted with the man advantage, burying his 13th of the season with assists from Kai Matthew and Samuel Léonard, making it 2–2.
The game remained tied into the third period before Cowichan Valley scored the eventual game-winner at 14:53, breaking the deadlock. With the Bulldogs pressing late and the net empty, the Capitals added an insurance marker at 19:27 to seal the 4–2 final.
Despite the loss, Jack Hirshorn delivered a strong performance between the pipes for Alberni Valley, earning Third Star honours after turning aside 30 of 34 shots.
The Bulldogs went 1-for-3 on the power play and were outshot 34–19 on the night.
