Bulldogs fall 6-5 to the Kings at the Dawg Pound

PORT ALBERNI, B.C – The Alberni Valley Bulldogs had their four game win streak snapped on Sunday night following a 6-5 loss to the Powell River Kings.

The Bulldogs would get on the board first thanks to Caige Sterzer who notched his sixth of the season, to make it 1-0.

The Kings would answer back with two quick goals in 65 seconds to take a 2-1 lead in the opening period.

In the second the Kings would score three straight goals before Dawson Tritt cut into the lead for the Bulldogs to make it 5-2.

The Bulldogs would come out of the gate with lots of bite in the third, scoring two goals to pull within one. The markers came from Dawson Tritt and Josh Zary. However the Kings would respond making it 6-4 just a few minutes later.

Zary would pull the Bulldogs back within a goal, with his second of the game with just under two minutes to go. But that would be as close as the Bulldogs would get. The Kings would take it 6-5.

With the loss the Bulldogs fall to 21-15-0-2 on the season. The Kings now lead the season series 4-2.

The Bulldogs will hit the road for three straight next weekend with stops in Salmon Arm, West Kelowna and Vernon.
