Bulldogs fall to the Capitals in return to the Dawg Pound

PORT ALBERNI, B.C- The Bulldogs lost for the first time in regulation this season at the Dawg Pound on Saturday night, 6-4 to the Capitals.

It was the first game back at home for the Bulldogs in almost a month due to the ice issues at the Multiplex.

In the opening period, the Capitals would find the back the the net twice, with the goals coming just over four minutes apart.

Down 2-0 in the second the Bulldogs would quickly pull even with goals from Isaac Pascoal and Tim Gould. The Capitals will regain the lead with under four minutes to play in the middle frame to make it 3-2. Then Tommy Bannister would snipe his 7th goal of the season for the Bulldogs to tie the game late in the period at 3-3.

The third period was a wild with four goals scored. Unfortunately for the Bulldogs, three of them came from the Capitals. The visitors jumped out to a 6-3 lead with three straight goals. Moe Acee would pull the Bulldogs within two but it would not be enough as the Capitals would skate to a 6-4 win. With the loss the Bulldogs drop to 13-11-0-2 on the season.

Caige Sterzer collected three assists in the game and was named third star. Grayson Valente was named the energy player of the game. A special thank you to the 1,113 fans that packed into the the Dawg Pound on Saturday night to support the Bulldogs.

It’s a short turnaround for the Bulldogs who are back on the ice Sunday afternoon in Colwood to take on the Victoria Grizzlies. Puck drop is set for 2 PM.
