Capacity Crowd Expected as Bulldogs Close Out Regular Season

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs (30-19-3-1) host the Victoria Grizzlies (26-18-5-3) tonight at 7:00 pm.  The game is expected to be played in front of a capacity crowd.

The Bulldogs haven’t played a sold out regular season game at the Multiplex since March 9th, 2011.  They entered this week with the goal of snapping that streak, and it appears that the community is going help make that a reality.

The Bulldogs Box Office will be open at 10:00 am, and fans are asked to arrive a little earlier than usual tonight, to help avoid a logjam at 7:00 pm when spectators typically arrive.  The doors open at 6:00 pm and warm up begins at 6:25.  There will be a special “Happy Hour” from 6:00 to 7:00 pm with all Dog Mountain Brewing Products for just $5.00.  The Bulldogs will also honour their 6 graduating 20 year olds with a pre-game ceremony.

To the matter at hand, the Bulldogs and Grizzlies.  It’s a contest that could be a first round playoff preview.  The Bulldogs have been nearly unstoppable since Christmas with a record of 20-4-1-0.  Two of those losses however came at the hands of the Grizzlies on March 7th and 10th in Victoria.  Setting the tone for a potential playoff preview should be motivation enough for the Bulldogs who close out the regular season tonight.  The Grizzlies meanwhile have a date with the Nanaimo Clippers on Saturday night to finish their season.

The Bulldogs are 3-3-0-0 against the Grizzlies this season and are 1-1-0-0 here at the Dawg Pound.

Since knocking off the Bulldogs two straight, the Grizzlies have dropped 3 of their last 4 games.  Their last game out on Sunday saw them fall 5-4 to the Surrey Eagles.  That loss, clinched home ice advantage for the Bulldogs in at least the opening round of the playoffs.  While the Grizzlies can still tie the Bulldogs in points, Alberni Valley holds the tie-breaker based on wins.

The Bulldogs enter action tonight winners of 3 straight games overall, and 4 straight here at home.  The Bulldogs are 17-7-0-1 at the Multiplex this season.  The Grizzlies have dominant at the Q Centre this season, but are just 11-13-1-1 when the visitor.

With the Bulldogs recognizing their 20-year olds tonight, the Bulldogs and Alberni Lifeline announced that Will Elger was the Bulldogs March player of the month.  Elger had 1 goal and 10 assists for 11 points in 7 games this month.
