Bulldogs Knock Off Chiefs to Cap Solid Weekend

The Bulldogs defeated the Chilliwack Chiefs 4-3 on Saturday night at the Alberni Valley Multiplex on Saturday night.

Raoul Boilard earned 1st star honours as he scored the game winner and added assist.  The 16 year old Boilard now has 5 goals in his rookie campaign.  Older brother Jules Boilard chipped in with a pair of assists and picked up 3rd star honours.

Matthew Maltais (6th), Ethan Bono (7th) and Braden Blace (3rd) also scored in the Bulldogs win.

All news was not good for the Bulldogs as their leading scorer Matthew Maltais left the game in the 1st period after he was on the receiving end of a nasty knee on knee hit from Hunter McInnes.  McInnes was assessed a 5 minute major for kneeing and a game misconduct.  Maltais will be evaluated next week.

Hobie Hedquist earned his 2nd win of the weekend as he stopped 30 of 33.

Both teams were 1 for 2 with the man-advantage and the Chiefs edged the Bulldogs in shots 33-29.

The win capped a successful weekend for the Bulldogs who earned a pair of much needed wins.  The Bulldogs improved to 6-6-1-0 on the year and are now 4-1-0-0 on home ice.

Up next the Bulldogs will host a pair of Interior Conference teams during the Annual Parents weekend. The Bulldogs play host to the Trail Smoke Eaters on Friday, and the Cranbrook Bucks will make their 1st ever to Hockey Valley on Saturday.
