Bulldogs Make it 3 Straight

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs are on a roll.

The Bulldogs overcame a 1-0 first period deficit to score the games next 4 goals en-route to a 4-1 win over the Nanaimo Clippers on Tuesday evening at the Dawg Pound.

After Brody Waters opened the scoring for the Clippers in the 1st period, the Bulldogs responded with 3 in the 2nd period to seize control of the game.  Brandon Buhr had a pair, his 6th & 7th goals of the season, while Chase Klassen scored his 5th of the year.  Klassen has now scored in 3 straight games.

In the 3rd period Bentley commit Stevie Castagna put the game away with his 8th of the season to make it 4-1 Bulldogs with 4:48 to play in regulation.

Luke Pearson was sensational in goal as he turned aside 47 of 48 Nanaimo shots on the night to earn 2nd star honours.  With the win, Pearson is now 5-2-0-0 on the season.  Over his previous 3 starts, Person has made 126 saves on 131 shots, good for a .962 SV %.

The Bulldogs penalty kill was strong in this one as they killed off all 4 Clippers opportunities.  The power play was 1 for 3 on the night.

With the win, the Bulldogs improved their record to 5-2-1-1.

Up next for the Bulldogs is a visit from the Victoria Grizzlies.  Victoria leads the Bulldogs by 4 points in the Island standings and are a perfect 4-0-0-0 against Port Alberni this year.
