Bulldogs Make Addition to Coaching Staff; Add to Shaw’s Role

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs are pleased to welcome Stephen Seeger to the club as an assistant coach.

The 24-year-old Seeger is a native of Mississauga, Ontario. After a 4-year junior career that included stops in the QMJHL, OHL, USHL & the BCHL with the Merritt Centennials, Seeger played two seasons in the German DEL2 with Lowen Frankfurt & EHC Freiburg. Seeger spent 66 games with the Centennials playing under Joe Martin.

Joe Martin was elated to add Seeger to the Bulldogs staff now that his playing days are done. “He was one of my favourite players to coach,” said Martin. “He’ll be very helpful to our players, and I’m looking forward to seeing Stephen start his coaching career.”

In a separate move, the Bulldogs have elevated assistant coach Brandon Shaw to the position of Associate Coach and Director of Player Development. The 2020-2021 season will be Shaw’s second with the Bulldogs. Joe Martin felt the increased role & responsibility was well deserved. “Brandon has been great to work with over the years,” said Martin. “He helps our program immensely and continues to grow as a coach. I feel fortunate to have him.”

Both Shaw and Seeger share similar introductions to coach Martin. “Funny thing is that both of these guys started with a phone call from a friend. When I checked them out, everyone in their lives had great things to say about them. Both Brandon and Stephen care about the game, their friends, teammates and family, and both men fit in with my family. The Bulldogs program will benefit greatly from both.”

The new-look Bulldogs staff gets started this week as their training camp powered by Van Isle Ford & Pacific Chevrolet kicks off. Watch the Bulldogs website & social media channels for daily updates.
