The Alberni Valley Bulldogs knocked off the Powell River Kings 6-4 on Sunday afternoon at the Dawg Pound in front of 1402 fans. The win was the Bulldogs 6th straight victory.
The Bulldogs jumped out to an early lead, pushed the lead in the 2nd, and then ended up having to hang on late as a resilient Kings team pushed to get back into the game after being down 5-1 after 40 minutes of play.
Mason Croucher led the attack from the backend with his 4th and 5th goals of the campaign in the 2nd period. Grayson Badger (3rd), Samuel Léonard (1st), Matias Myllykoski (3rd) and Lucas Buzziol (3rd) all scored in the win for the Bulldogs.
Léonard also chipped in with a beautiful assist as he found the trailer Myllykoski on the play. After missing the first month and a half of the season, Léonard’s first weekend in the BCHL became a memorable one on Sunday.
Hlib Artsatbanov made 31 saves for his 4th win of the year in goal for the Bulldogs.
With the victory the Bulldogs record improved to 12-4-0-0 on the season and 6-2-0-0 at the Dawg Pound. Up next for the Bulldogs is a trip to Duncan on Friday night to take on the Caps, before returning home on Saturday night to host the Nanaimo Clippers.
