Bulldogs Offence Explodes in Win

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs exploded for 7 goals on Friday night against the Grizzlies in Victoria.  In the end, it was good enough to come home with a 7-4 win.  The victory was the Bulldogs 3rd straight over the Grizzlies.

After the clubs traded 1st-period goals, things got a little wild in the 2nd.  After newly named captain Mattias Dal Monte scored the go-ahead goal at 2:55 of the 2nd, the Grizzlies roared back with a quick pair of their own to take a 3-2 before the period was just six minutes old.

The Bulldogs said anything you can do, we can do better as Oak MacLeod and Tyler Kostelecky scored just 14 seconds apart late in the 2nd to send the Bulldogs to the locker room with a 4-3 lead after 40 minutes.

The Bulldogs bulled away with 3 more in the 3rd from Castagna, Bono and MacLeod picked up his 2nd of the night.  Brandon Buhr had the other goal on the night for the Bulldogs who improved to 6-6-1-1 during pre-season play.

Luke Pearson was solid in goal as he faced 41 Grizzlies shots.

The Bulldogs will now face the Nanaimo Clippers on Monday evening at the Q Centre in Victoria in the Island Cup Semi-Final.  The winner of that contest will return to Victoria the next evening and take on the division-leading Grizzlies in the pre-season championship.
