Bulldogs pick up a point but fall 3-2 in OT to the Silverbacks

SALMON ARM- The Alberni Valley Bulldogs kicked off a three game weekend road trip on Friday night against the Salmon Arm Silverbacks.

One of the newest additions for the Bulldogs, River Fahey made his debut at the Shaw Centre Friday night. Mattias Dal Monte is expected to make his debut on Saturday.

The Silverbacks would strike first in the opening period last night at the 15:32 mark, Daniel Rybarik would give the home side a 1-0 lead.

The Bulldogs would get that goal back in the second period at the 7:09 mark when Jackson Doucet sniped his 13th goal of the season to tie the game at 1-1.

Jacob Bosse would give the Bulldogs the lead for the first time in the game just over seven minutes into the third, making it 2-1.

It was the 12th goal of the season for the Longueuil, Quebec product.

However the Bulldogs lead would not last long as the Silverbacks would pull even just 41 seconds later.

The game would remain tied at 2-2 after 60 minutes, thanks in large part to some huge saves by Jackson Glassford who helped force overtime.

In the extra frame, the Silverbacks would strike at the 4:20 mark to take the game 3-2. The Silverbacks out shot the Bulldogs 55-27 in the contest.

Glassford made 52 saves in the game. With the loss the Bulldogs fall to 21-15-1-2 on the season and remain in third spot in the Island Division.

The Bulldogs will continue their road trip with a stop in Vernon on Saturday to battle the Vipers.
