Bulldogs pick up a point in 4-3 shootout loss to Vipers

PORT ALBERNI, B.C.- The Alberni Valley Bulldogs lost for the first time this season at the Dawg Pound on Saturday night, 4-3 in shootout to the Vernon Vipers.

Austin Spiridakis got the scoring started for the Bulldogs just over two minutes into the game. The Vipers would tie the game up 1-1, late in the period.

The Vipers would strike first in the second period to make it 2-1 at the 2:06 mark. Then just over a minute later, Josh Zary would pot his 3rd goal of the season to tie the game up again 2-2.

Austin Spiridakis would get his second goal of the game and 8th on the season in the third to put the Bulldogs out in front 3-2.

However with under two minutes to go in the period, Vernon would tie it up 3-3.

The game remained tied after five minutes of overtime and headed to a shootout.

Both teams exchanged goals in the shootout before Nicholas Kent would finally seal the win for the Vipers in the 5th round.

Despite the loss the Bulldogs picked up a point and are now 10-8-0-1 on the season and have points in 8 straight games.

Luke Pearson made 43 saves for the Bulldogs are was named the games first star.

The Bulldogs are back on the ice on Friday when they travel to Nanaimo to battle the Clippers.
