The Alberni Valley Bulldogs staged a late rally to pull out a 3-2 win over the Cowichan Valley Capitals on Friday night in Duncan.
After a 1-1 draw through 40 minutes of play the Capitals took a 2-1 lead 14:18 of the 3rd period thanks to Luke Lavery’s 10th of the year. It was a broken that Lavery was the beneficiary.
After Luke Strickland took a tripping minor at 16:53, Joe Martin called a time out and was rewarded with a power play goal from Zeke Nicholson for his 4th of the year to pull the Bulldogs even with 2:20 to play in regulation.
The Bulldogs would secure the win after a relentless shift that saw Manu Charbonneau hold the blue line on multiple occasions. Will Elger would find the winner with just 1:53 to play in the game. Dakota MacIntosh and Nicholas Beneteau drew the assists.
The Bulldogs outshot the Capitals 44-25 on the night and improved to 11-15-2-1 on the season with the win. The Caps meanwhile suffered their 10th straight loss.
The Bulldogs red-hot power play connected twice on 3 chances on the night.
