Bulldogs Retain Professional Assistant

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs are pleased to announce the hiring of Greg Holst as a Special Assistant to Head Coach Bryant Perrier.

 Greg will be bringing an extensive professional background to the Bulldogs. As a player Greg was a 19 year professional, including playing 4 years in the New York Rangers organization. During that time, Greg was named the American Hockey League Rookie of the Year and played in the AHL finals. After his time with the Rangers, Greg joined the Austrian Elite League, where his accomplishments include; Being the first player to score 500 goals, the first player to have his jersey retired, the leagues all time leading scorer.

As a coach, Greg has spent 5 years with the Austrian National Team program, which includes the U18 World Junior team, U20 World Junior team, Austrian National Men?s Team. In this time, Greg has coached in 8 World Junior Championships, 5 World Championships and 2 Olympic Games, in Nagano, Japan and Salt Lake City, Utah. Since 2003, Greg has coached in the Austrian Elite League with Villach. In this time, Greg has been a league finalist 3 times and won 1 league championship.

?I?ve had the privilege of working with Greg in the past, and am looking forward to having him come in for additional support. We have had numerous conversations over the past few weeks, to make sure that we share the same vision of where this organization and team is going. Holst will be joining the Bulldogs for 17 games, beginning November 10^th through December 22^nd.
