Bulldogs set to host the Smoke Eaters in Campbell River on Sunday

PORT ALBERNI, B.C- The Alberni Valley Bulldogs will be back on ice Sunday, but not at the Dawg Pound. The Bulldogs will host the Trail Smoke Eaters at the Rod Brind’Amour Arena in Campbell River. The game was originally scheduled to be played at the Multiplex but do to the ongoing ice situation, the game has been moved to Campbell River.

The Bulldogs are coming off a 5-4 shootout loss on the road to the Nanaimo Clippers on Wednesday. The game was decided in the 10th round of the shootout.

The Bulldogs were down 4-1 heading into the third period in that game before battling back to force OT. Ryan Doolin notched his second of the game with under a minute to play to tie the game at 4-4. Captain Mitch Deelstra was in on all four goals on Wednesday and continues to lead the Bulldogs in scoring.

Sunday’s game will be a big test for the Bulldogs who are currently 11-9-0-2 on the season. Trail is currently 17-6-2-1 on the season and have won four straight games including a 6-2 win over Powell River on Friday night. The Smoke Eaters take on the Clippers on Saturday in Nanaimo.

Sunday’s game will be the first of two meetings between the Bulldogs and Smoke Eaters. The Bulldogs will travel to Trail on February the 14th.
