Bulldogs show some bite but fall 6-3 to the Clippers in Game 2

NANAIMO- The Alberni Valley Bulldogs are now down 0-2 in their Island Division Semi-Final series with the Nanaimo Clippers.

The Bulldogs dropped Game 2 last night at Frank Crane Arena by a 6-3 score.

The Clippers would open the scoring in the first period, before the Bulldogs responded with two goals. The first goal came from Olivier Fizet who pounced on rebound and buried it to make it 1-1. Ryan Doolin would give the Bulldogs the lead late in the first with a highlight reel goal, with one hand on the stick Doolin lifted the puck up and over Clippers goaltender Jordan Naylor. After the first twenty minutes the Clippers had the edge in the shot department 17-16.

The Clippers would tie the game at 2-2 early in the second period on the power-play. But the Bulldogs would get it right back when Matthew Grouchy put home his own rebound to make it 3-2. The lead would be short lived for the Bulldogs, as the Clippers would get two more goals before the period came to an end to take a 4-3 lead into the final frame.

The Clippers would score the only two goals in the third en route to a 6-3 victory. Jackson Glassford turned away 38 shots in the loss. The Bulldogs went 0 for 2 on the power-play while the Clippers went 2 for 3. The Clippers out shot the Bulldogs 44-33.

The Bulldogs will look to take Game 3 back at the Dawg Pound on Tuesday. Puck drop is set for 7 PM.
