Bulldogs Snap Skid with 5-2 Win

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs snapped a 3-game losing streak on Friday night at the Multiplex as they defeated the Coquitlam Express 5-2 in front of 1065 fans.

Matthew Maltais scored twice in the win, the goals were his 4th and 5th of season. Ethan Bono (6th),  Raoul Boilard (4th), and Logan Holm (2nd) also scored in the win for the Bulldogs.  Nicholas Beneteau chipped in with a pair of assists.

Hobie Hedquist earned the win in goal stopping 33 of the 35 shots the Express sent his way.  Adam Manji suffered the loss stopping 34 of 37 for Coquitlam.

The Bulldogs led 2-0 after 20 minutes, before the Express roared back in the middle frame to even the contest 2-2 after 40 minutes.  The winner came from Maltais at the 13:12 mark of the 3rd period.  The Bulldogs closed out the scoring with empty net goals at 19:10 and 19:54.

The win improved the Bulldogs record to 5-6-1-0. They will look to climb back to the .500 mark tomorrow when they host the Chilliwack Chiefs at 7:00 pm.  The Chiefs are coming off a 3-2 OT win over the Victoria Grizzlies tonight.
