Bulldogs tame Grizzlies 5-0 to get back in the win column

PORT ALBERNI- The Alberni Valley Bulldogs four game losing streak is over after a huge 5-0 win over the Victoria Grizzlies on Friday night at the Dawg Pound.

Both teams would trade chances in the opening period however it would end scoreless. The Bulldogs would bite first in the second period when Tim Gould sniped his 6th marker of the season to put the Bulldogs up 1-0. It would be the only goal of the middle frame, the Bulldogs out shot the Grizzlies 18-14.

The Bulldogs would strike early and often in the third period, finding the back of the net four times. Goals came from Mitch Deelstra, Jimmy Rayhill, Ryan Doolin and Josh Zary. Luke Pearson was superb in goal stopping all 31 shots he faced for his 3rd shutout of the season.

Doolin led the way for the Bulldogs with 3 points (1G,2A) while Zary, Tommy Bannister and Matthew Grouchy all had multi-point games.

The Bulldogs are now 22-17-1-2 on the season and will take on the Grizzlies tonight in Colwood at the Q-Centre.
