Bulldogs Top Grizzlies in Big Win

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs snapped a 3 game losing streak on Wednesday night with a 5-3 win over the Victoria Grizzlies at the Alberni Valley Multiplex.

The Bulldogs came flying out the gates and were rewarded early with Stephen Castagna’s 3rd of the season just :30 seconds into the contest.  The Grizzlies would get it back a little more than mid-way through the 1st thanks to Michael Hookstra’s 3rd.

In the 2nd it was the Grizzlies who jumped out to the quick start thanks to Andrew Amousse who scored on the power play at 2:11 for the Grizzlies 1st lead of the night.  The Bulldogs would buy the next two goals to retake the lead before Ellis Rickwood scored at 19:37 to tie the game at 3-3 after 40. The Bulldogs goals came from Nicholas Beneteau (5th) and Mirko Buttazzoni (6th).

The Bulldogs got the only two goals of the 3rd as Finn Brown notched his 8th of the season at 6:52 for the game winner and Booker Daniel made it 5-3 with his 3rd of the season at 12:43 to put the game away.

Hobie Hedquist earned the win in goal for the Bulldogs as he stopped 22 of 25 to improve to 6-3-0-0 on the year.  Cole Schwebius stopped 39 of 44 in the loss for the Grizzlies.

With the victory, the Bulldogs improved to 9-6-2-0 on the season, while the loss dropped the Grizzlies recored to 11-7-0-0.  The same two clubs will do it all over again on Friday at the Q Centre.
