Bulldogs Win in Overtime

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs picked up a come from behind, overtime win Wednesday night when they took on the Cowichan Valley Capitals.

The Capitals jumped out to a two goal lead heading into the first intermission on the strength of goals from Chris Zaires and Kevin Walrod. In the second period, the Bulldogs power play got them on the board when Warren Muir converted on a Kevin Ross pass. Cowichan restored their two goal lead going into the third period when Walrod notched his second of the game. In the third period, Muir scored his second of the game, from Chris Moulson and Adam Hout to bring the Bulldogs within one. Captain James Kerr scored on the power play with 5 minutes remaining in the third to tie the game and send it to overtime. Josh Pineiro and Evan Witt picked up assists on Kerr?s 3rd goal of the season.  In overtime, Pineiro played the hero when he scored at 2:24 unassisted to give the Bulldogs the win.

Matthew Wong picked up the win for the Bulldogs, kicking aside 30 shots sent his way. Chris Rawlings was tagged with the loss for the Capitals, managing 31 saves.

Notes: Josh Pineiro now leads all Bulldogs defenceman in scoring picking up his 4th and 5th point of the season. Matthew Wong was named the games Third Star.  Next action for the Bulldogs is Friday October 10th, when they travel to Bear Mountain Arena to take on the Victoria Grizzlies.
