The Bulldogs dropped a second strraight game in Duncan Friday night, 3-2 to the Capitals, who remained unbeaten on the season on the strength of with back to back power play goals just seconds apart in the opening period.

The game got off to a fantastic start once the pregame festivities concluded, with good pace but neither team generating much in the way of offense. The Capitals took a 2-0 lead on back to back power play goals just 16 seconds apart by the eight minute mark, on shots from the line leading to rebounds and scrambles with Cole Keen and Massimo Fazio scoring. The Bulldogs answered a minute and change later, as Grady Magnor was sent on a partial breakaway, and made no mistake with a quick release blocker side off the post and in to make it 2-1. The Capitals would pad their lead late in the period, on a set up at the side of the net put home by Jack McAra to make it 3-1 after 20 minutes.

The second period saw the sides play at a high pace, but there wasn’t much in the way of glaring offensive chances as it stayed 3-1 Cowichan Valley after 40 minutes.

The Bulldogs struggled to get going in the third, but earned momentum with a long 5 on 3 penalty kill of over a minute and a half to keep within two goals. Just over a minute after killing it off, they made it a 3-2 game as Eric Lund went to the net and one-timed home a Eduard Mishikov pass. It was the first career point for both players, with Jacob Terpstra also assisting on the play. The Bulldogs were unable to find the equalizer, as the Caps made the lead stand.

Shots were 37-21 Capitals. The Capitals went 2 for 5 on the power play while the Bulldogs didn’t earn an opportunity.
