The Bulldogs had an outstanding chance seconds into the game, as Brendan Ruskowski walked in alone and had Quintin Miller down and out but he was unable to tuck it home from below the goal line. Grayson Badger would be set up in the slot on the next shift, but Miller came up with a one-timer stop to keep it scoreless. The Chiefs started to carry the play minutes later, and much like in game one scored in bunches to open a 2-0 lead. The first saw Nathan Morin score on a loose puck on the goal line. Less than a minute later Caleb Elfering tipped in a Hunter McInnes point shot. Three minutes later, it was 3-0 as Caleb Malholtra picked up a rebound off the post and was allowed to walk in the slot where he scored high short-side on Ryder Shea to make it 3-0. Shea was tested often through the first, as the Chiefs put 20 shots on net – while the Bulldogs had several great chances in throwing 8 shots on Quintin Miller.
The second period was tame by comparison throughout the first ten minutes, but the Bulldogs were able to string a series of shifts together in the back half of the frame to finally break the goose egg as Grayson Badger found Wyatt Davis at the line, who set up Jacob Terpstra who ripped a top corner shot over the glove of Miller to make it 3-1. The Chiefs had a breakaway off the ensuing faceoff, but Carter Anderson missed the net. Seconds later again, the Bulldogs turned it over at the Chilliwack line, leading to a 2 on 1 worked to perfection by Chilliwack as Anderson set up Elfering for a cross-slot one-timer past the right toe of Shea to make it 4-1 just 21 seconds later.
Chilliwack built their lead to 5-1, after the Bulldogs killed off six minutes in penalties to start the third as Connor Dick picked off a pass in the slot and walked in alone and beat Shea five hole. The Bulldogs answered less than a minute later, after a penalty shot stop by Miller on Grayson Salmon, as Leim Smith worked the puck out front for Cole Bishop, who snuck a one-timer through Miller from in tight to make it 5-2. The Chiefs would complete the scoring just 1:04 later as Dwayne Jean Jr dropped the puck back to the slot for Nico Grabas, who scored on a one-timer high short-side on Shea to make it a 6-2 final.
Shots were 40-26 Chiefs, with Quintin Miller earning the win while Ryder Shea took the loss. The Bulldogs went 0 for 3 on the power play while the Chiefs went 0 for 7.
The teams meet again tomorrow night at the Frank Crane Arena for game four, a 7:00pm start.
