Columbia Ice Update: Bulldogs earn 3 points on the weekend

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs squared off against the Victoria Grizzlies for a home and home battle on the weekend where both times the away team upset the home fans.

Friday night the Bulldogs traveled to The Q Centre where it didn’t look good at first as the Grizzlies would score two goals less than 30 seconds apart in the first period however the Bulldogs would even things up before the end.

First Dawson Tritt on a rebound shot from Ethan Jones at 13:11, then a minute later Keaton Mastrodonato from Darren Rizzolo and Jackson Doucet would tie things up.

The Bulldogs would score the only two goals in the second period, first by Mitch Deelstra followed by a powerplay goal and his second of the night by Keaton Mastrodonato.

During the final twenty minute the Grizzlies would come within one until Ryan Miotto would score in the empty net to take the game 5-3.

The following night it was Pink in the Rink at the Dog Pound where it was a goaltenders show between John Hawthorne and Kurtis Chapman.

The Grizzlies would get one past Hawthorne in the first period at 9:21 which would be the only goal during regulation for them while the Bulldogs also were only able to get one goal during regulation from Ryan Miotto in the second period assisted by Marcus Walter and Spencer Hora.

3:10 of the overtime Alex Newhook would receive a pass from Alexander Campbell to end the game, 2-1 for the Grizzlies.

The Bulldogs would earn one point on the night ending their weekend with three points.
