Columbia Ice Weekend Recap

The Alberni Valley Bulldog fans were treated to two great hockey games on the weekend, both one goal games with one ending in overtime.
Friday night the Merritt Centennials were at the Dog Pound for a back and forth game the entire 60 minutes.
Nicholas Seitz would open things up with the lone goal in the first period, however it was retaliated in the second with two unanswered Cents goals.
Mitch Deelstra would score before the second period ended to tie things up.

During the third both teams would trade a goal each Nick Granowicz for the Cents and Ryan Miotto for the Bulldogs.

Late in the third period Bradley Cocca would score to give the Cents the 4-3 win.
In game two of the weekend double header the Bulldogs and Trail Smoke Eaters would trade goals throughout the night.
Mitch Deelstra would get his third goal in three games in the first period, while Tyler Ghirardosi would also get on to keep things tied.
Trail’s Carter Jones would get the only goal unassisted in the second period to give them the 2-1 lead.
The Bulldogs would tie things up at 14:39 by Keaton Mastrodonato assisted by Grayson Valente then within a minute after Aaron Bohlinger would score his first BCHL Goal to give the Dogs’ the lead.

 

With the empty net Trail’s Trevor Zins would score with 30 seconds to go to force the game to overtime.

 

Early into the overtime Keaton Mastrodonato would score to give the Dogs’ their first home win of the season.
