FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

August 7, 2009

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs are looking for families who can open their doors and give the team?s players a home away from home during the 2009-10 season.

Our host families play a vital role to the success of our organization.  Players come from all over North America to the Alberni Valley to further their academic and athletic careers.  The Host Family Program is instrumental to providing our players with a healthy environment as they pursue their goals on and off the ice.

Bulldogs players range in age from 16 ? 20 and the host families act as surrogate parents for the young men during hockey season while the players are away from home.

?Our host families are invaluable to our organization? said Nolan Graham, General Manager and Head Coach of the Bulldogs.  ?They provide a nurturing environment for our players and the result is often a relationship that lasts years after the players have moved away from the community.?

Host families are required to provide a player with his own room from the start of training camp through the end of the season, and provide the player with his meals. In exchange, host families receive a stipend to help pay for groceries, tickets to all Bulldogs home games, and invitations to team events.

If you are interested in becoming a host family or want to know more about our Host Family Program, please call Melissa Martin at (250) 724-1357.
