Dogs Drop Opener

Playing in front a packed Weyerhaeuser Arena, the Bulldogs took on the Royal Bank Cup host Victoria Grizzlies Friday night.

The first period saw the Grizzlies jump out to a 2-0 lead with Justin Courtnall and Jeff Forsythe both finding the back of the net. In the second period Brian Nugent tallied twice for Victoria as they carried a 4-0 lead heading into the final frame.  In the third Forsythe scored his second of the game, while Matt Frydrysek replied for the Bulldogs with Zack Mazo and Lee Patzer drawing assists.

Anthony Grieco picked up the win in the Grizzlies net stopping 31 of the 32 shots sent his way.  Matthew Wong, acquired in the off-season from the Grizzlies, stopped 28 shots in the loss for the Bulldogs.

Notes: Newly re-acquired Frydrysek was named the games third star. Next action for the Bulldogs is Sunday, September 14th when the Powell River Kings visit Weyerhaeuser Arena.
