Make it four straight wins on home ice for the Alberni Valley Bulldogs after a huge 3-1 victory Saturday night over the first place Cowichan Valley Capitals.
The Bulldogs got on the board at the 5:31 mark of the first period when Caige Sterzer found the back of the net for the second time this season making it 1-0.
The Bulldogs would add to their lead early in the second period with a goal from Austin Spiridakis.
The Capitals pulled within a goal late in the middle frame when Luc Wilson beat Jackson Glassford for the first time in the game.
Captain Mitch Deelstra would put the Bulldogs back up by two in the third period with his team leading 10th goal of the season making it 3-1 for the home side.
The Bulldogs would hold on for the 3-1 win thanks to some brilliant goaltending from Rookie Jackson Glassford who stopped 47 of the 48 shots he faced.
The Qualicum Beach product was named first star of the game.
With the win the Bulldogs have now won back to back games and improve to 5-8 this season. Next up for the Bulldogs is another Island Division matchup on Friday October 11th against Victoria at the Dawg Pound.
