Grouchy Headed to Thunderwolves Men’s Hockey

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs & the Lakehead Thunderwolves Hockey announced the addition of Matthew Grouchy from Labrador City, Newfoundland to the Men’s hockey program for the 2020-2021 season.

The Labrador City, Newfoundland native played the majority of his junior career in the QMJHL with the organizations of the Charlottetown Islanders, Quebec Remparts and Gatineau Olympiques. Grouchy has collected 121 points over 207 regular season games played in the QMJHL, before joining the Bulldogs last season where he had 23 points in 22 games.

Grouchy said “I am excited for the opportunity to attend Lakehead University and further my studies. It has always been a goal of mine to play hockey at the highest level possible and I believe Lakehead was the best option to help me achieve that goal.”

Head coach Joe Martin said that the move will be a great one for Grouchy. “He’ll jump in and be a contributor for sure, he was a welcomed addition to our group, a smart player, and a great teammate during his time as a Bulldog.  We wish him the best and know he’ll make us proud.”
