Hammer’s Weekly Preview

The Dogs are back in action this week with just one game on the schedule due in part to the BCHL All Star game festivities taking place in Vernon mid week. The lone contest is at the Dog Pound Saturday night as the Cowichan Valley Capitals are in town.

The Capitals enter this week with a record of 27-16-0 and 4, good for second place in the Island Division, six points behind the Victoria Grizzlies for the Division lead, and 10 points ahead of the third placed Nanaimo Clippers. The Capitals have played three more games than both teams. After winning five in a row to end December and begin the New Year, the Capitals have now lost 3 of 4 games. They were last in action Sunday afternoon in Burnaby where they lost 5-4 in overtime to the Express. While the Caps might have lost three of four, they still have a solid 6-2-0 and  2 record in their last 10 games.

Before the Caps visit the Dogs on Saturday, they will host the Victoria Grizzlies in a big battle of 1 vs. 2 in the Division at the Island Savings Centre Friday night.

The last time the Dogs and Caps met was December 19th, also at the Dog Pound, a 6-4 Dogs victory. It was the first win on home ice for the Dogs over the Capitals this season, and also their first in regulation time after an earlier win in Duncan in overtime.

Saturday?s pregame show from the Pound kicks off at 6:45 with the puck dropping at 7:00 on 93.3 The Peak FM and the BCHL Fanzone
