Holiday Hangover – Bulldogs Fall to Caps

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs dropped a 3-2 decision to the visiting Cowichan Valley Capitals on Wednesday night at the Alberni Valley Multiplex.

Trailing 1-0 after 20 minutes of play, the Bulldogs pulled even at 3:26 of the 2nd Brandon Buhr scored his 9th of the year finishing a pretty play set up by Josh Zary.  The Caps would regain the just a couple of minutes later as Massimo Lombardi notched his 8th of the season.

Early in the 3rd the Caps would gain some insurance as Matteo Turrin ripped a shot past Hedquist to give Cowichan a 3-1 lead.

Logan Holm gave the Bulldogs some hope as he banged home a rebound with 3:58 remaining in regulation time.  After a time-out and a fair amount of Grade-A chances, McCoy Bidewell held the fort and preserved the win for Cowichan.

Bidewell was the games 1st star as he stopped 36 of of 38 Bulldogs shots and was steady throughout the contest.

The loss, just the 2nd in regulation time at the Multiplex this season dropped the Bulldogs record to 15-9-3-0.  The Caps improved to 8-18-0-1.

The Bulldogs will have a couple of days to regroup before heading to Duncan on Saturday looking for revenge.
