Invest in the Alberni Valley Bulldogs
The Bulldogs & the Alberni Valley
The Bulldogs franchise moved to the Alberni Valley from Burnaby in 2002 following a successful season ticket drive that showed the city was hungry for BCHL hockey. In 2012, the community showed its commitment to the team once again with the creation of the Port Alberni Junior Hockey Society and a successful fundraising campaign that led to the purchase of the franchise from the Okanagan Hockey Group and local investors. The PAJHS has run the team for the past seven seasons and is now seeking an ownership partner or an individual/group of new owners to invest in the team and secure the long-term stability of the franchise in Port Alberni. Together, we can be stronger on and off the ice!
Season Tickets & Fan Support
Since Day 1, the Bulldogs have been known for a passionate, loyal fan base and the incredible atmosphere on game nights at Weyerhaeuser Arena. For the 2018/19 BCHL season, the Bulldogs have a season ticket base of over 700 and are currently averaging 1,100 fans per game.
Corporate Support & Sponsorship
The Bulldogs also receive incredible support from the local business community that tests the limits of our current sponsorship inventory. Rink board advertising is currently full for the 2018/19 season and the team recently installed additional back-lit signage to meet increased demand. The team’s overall slate of 140-plus corporate sponsors includes 28 new supporters this year alone.
The Alberni Valley Multiplex
The Bulldogs play in a first-class facility with 1,600 seats that was constructed in 2001 specifically to house a BCHL franchise. The Multiplex features two ice sheets, a private team dressing room with office space for coaches and trainers, as well as front-office facilities that house our business and marketing staff and a team store. Our team-friendly lease agreement gives the Bulldogs a financial edge over most BCHL competition.
The British Columbia Hockey League
The British Columbia Hockey League is widely known to be Canada’s premier Junior A hockey league and a tremendous pipeline of talent to the NCAA and professional hockey. The league’s 17 teams include five in the Island Division, where the Bulldogs compete with the Victoria Grizzlies, Nanaimo Clippers, Powell River Kings and Cowichan Valley Capitals. The BCHL has helped produce current NHLers like Duncan Keith, Jamie Benn and Kyle Turris, as well as 2017 Hockey Hall of Fame inductee Paul Kariya. For the 2018/19 season, there are 272 BCHL alumni playing NCAA Division I hockey.
The City of Port Alberni
Port Alberni is a vibrant, growing community located on Central Vancouver Island just 60 minutes northwest of the Departure Bay Ferry Terminal as well as airports in Nanaimo and Courtenay. The city boasts 17,500 residents and an overall district population of roughly 30,000.
