The Alberni Valley Bulldogs are excited to announce the signing of 2008 born forward, Ricards Rutkis. At 6’1, 172 lbs, he adds size down the middle and offensive flare.
“Ricards brings international experience after representing Team Latvia in the Under 18 World Junior Championships.” said Bulldogs Head Coach and GM Joe Martin.
The 18 year old has suited up not only for his country’s U-18 team, but the U-20 squad as well. In 2023-24, Rutkis led Latvia U17 to a championship, while in just 16 games he amassed the clubs most points with 52, which included a team high 29 assists.
“Last season he spent with the New Jersey Rockets U18-AAA where he has great coaching, and played a large role.” added Martin.
With the Rockets, the play making center tallied over a point per game, scoring 22 goals, and adding 46 helpers in 67 contests, for a total of 68 points.
Welcome to Hockey Valley Ricards!
