Rivermen Edge Bulldogs in OT

The Langley Rivermen edged the Alberni Valley Bulldogs 2-1 in OT on Saturday night at the Alberni Valley Multiplex.

The Rivermen opened the scoring in defensive affair early in the 2nd period as Keeton Oakley beat Hobie Hedquist for his 7th of the year.  The Bulldogs pulled even at 5:02 of the 3rd as they capitalized on a 5-on-3 man advantage. Ryan Nause wristed a shot past Ajeet Gundarah for his 2nd of the year with Josh Zary assisting.

Both clubs had some chances down the stretch, but ultimately nothing was settled until Max Dukovac cut in on Hedquist and tucked it past him for the OT winner just :35 seconds into the extra session.

The Bulldogs finished the night 1 for 4 with the man advantage and were a perfect 4 for 4 on the penalty kill.

With the OT win the Rivermen improved to 12-3-1-2 and continue to lead the Coastal Conference. The Bulldogs are now 10-6-3-0 but did earn 5 of a possible 6 points this week.

The final shots were 36-22 Bulldogs.
